I wrote a post before about decadent keto, and decadent intermittent fasting. I made the keto post when I was starting out keto as a sort of hypothesis.
Well, it worked.
It worked very well, similar results as the peptides.
I was thinking about how nice it would be as a service I could just pay for, and have it done for me, as a luxury. The setup is straightforward. I was wondering why I never hear of people paying for keto as a service. Maybe they do this with their private chefs, “hey help me lose weight” “okay I will only feed you keto things, don’t eat anything I don’t give you, that’s the one rule” “okayyyyy” “wow this worked!” “waaoow”
I am sure actors and models have things like this often enough or people with personal dietitians. They just don’t brag about it.
I was then thinking that keto is hard enough on enough people, and few people like it, and it’s so personalized, that having it as a service outside of the above parameters outside the context of a personal chef may not make economic sense as a business model for anybody to start and do for people.
THAT BEING SAID
I have ideas of things I would want that are in the, couple hundred dollars a month range as a service rather than a couple thousand or more in the context of a personal dietician or personal chef, that can keep the decadent keto on track, and these relate both to failure modes I predicted when I was starting out and the failure modes I predicted and then simply did not do much about when they actually happend.
FAILURE MODE 1: JUST NOT HAVING KETO FOOD AROUND
Keto is a really great appetite suppressant and there is a real thing around if you’d committed to simply not breaking keto and not needing carbs anymore, and there is no keto food around, you simply will not bother to eat anything.
This happened to me three months in and I was losing 3 pounds every week for a few weeks. Great for weight loss! But actually not really great. I really needed to start eating, kept telling myself “fuck I need to eat stuff” and then literally not bothering.
There was no motivation to lose weight faster. I needed to stop and then actively did an intervention on myself to stop, only to sort of go back into the pattern soon after. I literally just could not be bothered.
THE SOLUTION
Okay. So you have a person come to your house or call you, or even text you, or even send you a form, or send you to an AI bot, whatever level of social interaction or price point you desire. They ask you about foods you like. You tell them. They mark which ones are keto-friendly. They ask you about food combinations you like. Maybe you love salmon and cream cheese (keto yay!) but only on a bagel (aw not keto) but maybe there are keto bagel replacements that you can fit into your daily carb budget (yay!) and so now actually you can have your salmon and cream cheese bagels (yay!) but only one every day (fine).
Maybe you are gluten-intolerant and so can only have gluten-free bagels or bread. This means chances are you have to bake your keto bread yourself. Maybe you do or do not want to do it, or maybe you want to pay somebody to do this for you every week so that you get your one loaf of keto bread every week.
Anyway. That’s problem solving. The point is this starts with you literally making a list of foods you regularly already like eating or already eat, and take note of which ones you can simply keep eating as before, and which things will need substitutes or changes. Maybe you ate an egg sandwich every day and now you can change it to be an egg omelette. Maybe you had an apple every morning with your yogurt and now this will be strawberries.
But this starts with a survey of your preferences.
Now, and this is important. As you go through a week of eating your things, you will be tired of them, or remember other things. You want to mark those as well, aka redo the survey every week for a month so that it catches all the foods as your mood changes.
Now you have a rotation and the more full list.
Either be disciplined about buying these, having them on re-order if you order your groceries, or get somebody to get these for you. If you just go to the grocery store like a normal person, have them on your list, and do also spend a day wandering the store buying the things your keto heart desires.
A failure mode is simply to not get the food. You will lose weight but at what cost! At what cost! You will think something is wrong and you need to change something.
Probably you will not change anything. You will just not eat anything and also not break your keto thing. And you will lose weight. But also you will suffer needlessly.
This is the opposite of the decadent keto! No you need to make sure you have prosciutto and burrata and keto pecan ice cream and fancy sugar-free root beer.
I do not currently remember the other failure modes as this was such a big one.
Going out with people, getting sick, needing to do a lot of manual labor, all had some trickinesses for me.
When I was sick I did eat some potatoes in a borscht I made months and months ago and froze, versus just not eating them. And you can do things like that and not completely ruin your plan if you actually like the plan you are doing.
Which really depends on just having the food you like around.
The failure mode of the decadent keto plan seems to have the keto work so well that you forget the decadent part.
Or if you are noticing you are saving a lot of money because you are eating yourself basically, and that starts just being a new pathology.
Aaaaaaaaaaaa
